HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06232009 - C.65RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.), to execute on behalf of the County, Standard (Amendment) Agreement #29-203-88 (State #08-85425, A01) with California Department of Public Health, to amend Standard Agreement #29-203-87, effective March 1, 2009, to increase payment to the County, by $365,000, from $13,015,000 to a new total not to exceed $13,380,000, for the continuation of the Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), with no change in the term of October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2011. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this Agreement will result in an increase of $365,000 of funding from the California Department of Public Health for the Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) through September 30, 2011. No County Funds required. This is a mandated program under the Community Health Services Division of the State Department of Health Services. WIC is a nutrition education, counseling and food supplement program for low-income, pregnant, postpartum and breast-feeding women, infants and children at nutritional risk. This program serves approximately 22,200 clients. On January 20, 2009, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Agreement #29-203-87 with the California Department of Public Health, for the Supplemental Food Program, for the period from October 1, 2008 through September 30, 2011. Approval of Standard (Amendment) Agreement #29-203-87 will provide additional funding for continuous nutrition assessment and education, community referrals, and food checks to eligible residents of Contra Costa County. Four certified and sealed copies of this Board Order should be returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit
