Subject:Amend Grant Amendment with the State of California Department of Boating and Waterways
BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
On March 17, 2009 (Item C.47) the Board authorized an amendment to this grant extending
the grant term and increasing the grant award amount. On May 19, 2009 (Item C.22), the
Board authorized a second amendment to this grant, increasing the grant amount to a new
award of $96,000.
The purpose of this amendment is to narrow the scope of the project to only abandoned
vessel removal, with no change to the contract term ending December 31, 2009. Funding is
provided by the State of California's Abandoned Watercraft Abatement Fund (AWAF). It is
the intention of the Marine Patrol Unit to abate abandoned derelict vessels with AWAF
grant funds as these vessels pose a navigational hazard.
