HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06232009 - C.48RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Director, or designee, to submit an application to and accept one-time funding from California Department of Community Services and Development in an amount not to exceed $1,200,000 for various self-sufficiency programs in support of the Community Services Block Grant Recovery Act Local Plan for the term July 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. FISCAL IMPACT: None / No county match 100% State funding BACKGROUND: On February 17, 2009 the President of the United States signed Public Law 111-5, the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)", which includes funding for Community Services Block Grant programs. This funding flows through the State of California via the California Department of Community Services and Development and is available through application to the State's Community Action agencies. If awarded, the department proposes to fund projects such as the Community Services Assistant Trainee program, Employment & Human Services Volunteer and Emergency Services, Contra Costa County Summer Youth Employment, City of Richmond Summer Youth Employment Program, and Co-operative Micro-enterprise Development program.
