APPROVE a Lease with the Hofmann 1987 Revocable Trust, on a month-to-month term, commencing June 24, 2009, for approximately 800 square feet of office space at 1555 Riverlake Road, Suite J, Discovery Bay, for a one time payment of $1 for occupancy by the Sheriff-Coroner, under the terms and conditions set forth in the Lease. 2. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services, or designee, to EXECUTE the Lease. 3. DETERMINE that the project is a Class 1, Section 15301 Categorical Exemption under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) (CP # 09-09). 4. DIRECT the Department of Conservation and Development Director, or designee, to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk, and DIRECT the Director of General Services, or designee, to arrange for the payment of the handling fees to the Department of Conservation and Development and County Clerk for filing of the Notice of Exemption. Lango, General Services Director Date:June 23, 2009 Contra Costa County Subject:Lease for the Premises at 1555 Riverlake Road, Suite J, Discovery Bay for the Sheriff-Coroner FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of the Lease will obligate the County to pay $1 as a one time payment for the duration of the month-to-month lease. The Lessor will pay for all maintenance and utilities for the suite. The Sheriff will provide its own janitorial service for the suite. Start up costs of approximately $2,500 for phones and computers for the suite will be paid for by P-6 funding. P-6 funding is made up from an assessment on property taxes from certain areas of Discovery Bay for enhanced police services. BACKGROUND: The approval of this Lease will provide for office space for the resident Sheriff's deputies and a Sheriff's Crime Prevention Specialist for the Discovery Bay area. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to approve the Lease will require seeking another office space location likely at additional expense.
