HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06162009 - SD.3RECOMMENDATION(S): Conduct public hearing and adopt resolution confirming Tentative Report for CSA EM-1 (Emergency Medical Services) and declaring intent to levy specified assessments to be collected with the FY 2009-10 property taxes. FISCAL IMPACT: No General Fund impact. Proposed FY 2009-10 assessments for CSA EM-1 total $215,590.89 for Zone A and $4,431,715.00 for Zone B. BACKGROUND: Revenues from the CSA EM-1 assessments are used to provide an enhanced countywide emergency medical service system as approved by the voters with the passage of Measure H in November 1988. Enhanced EMS services include additional staffed paramedic units to respond to 9-1-1 calls; support for firefighter EMS first responder programs, EMS communications, and miscellaneous EMS enhancements. The lower BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) rate for Zone A reflects the fact that certain EMS enhancements are funded by other revenue sources in the San Ramon Valley area. The proposed FY 2009-10 rates are unchanged from the previous year. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: Failure to set the CSA EM-1 assessment rates prior to August 10, 2009 may result in the EM-1 assessments not being included in the property tax bills countywide.
