HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06162009 - C.43RECOMMENDATION(S): ADOPT Resolution No. 2009/269 approving and authorizing the County Probation Officer, or designee, to apply for and accept funding from the California Corrections Standards Authority, Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) in an amount not to exceed $60,504 for personnel in the East County Juvenile Drug Court for the period of July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010. FISCAL IMPACT: $60,504; $54,454 Federal (State pass-through), $6,050 County General Fund. This grant and the 10% match are budgeted in fiscal year 2009/10. (Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance #16.523) BACKGROUND: The Juvenile Accountability Block Grant program is based on Title III of H.R. 3, the Juvenile Accountablility Incentive Block Grant (JAIBG) Act of 1997, as passed by the United States House of Representatives on May 8, 1997. Chatman, County Probation Officer Date:June 16, 2009 Contra Costa County Subject:Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG) BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) November 2, 2002, revises and renames the JAIBG to the Juvenile Accountability Block Grant (JABG), and places it under Title II of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act. The total allocation of $2,536,020 to the State is to enable units of local government to promote greater accountability of juvenile offenders in the Juvenile Justice System. Contra Costa County's portion of this allocation is $54,454. It is the intent of the Probation Department to utilize the JABG funding toward the continuation of collaborative efforts of the East County Juvenile Drug Court program, and would partially fund one (1) Deputy Probation Officer and one (1) Probation Supervisor I positions.
