HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 06092009 - C.81RECOMMENDATION(S): AUTHORIZE the Office of Supervisor Mary Nejedly Piepho, District III, to participate in the preparation of an Emergency Management Plan with the Byron Union School District and the communities of Byron and Discovery Bay if the School District is awarded a grant administered by the U.S. Department of Educations Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools. FISCAL IMPACT: None BACKGROUND: The Byron Union School District has applied for grant monies to create a Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools (REM) administered by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools. The grant would provide funds to the School District to create an emergency management plan at the district and school-building levels. If awarded grant monies, the school district will be working to coordinate with local community partners, including local government, to improve local capacity to sustain emergency management efforts.
