APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Department director, or
designee, to accept funding from California Department of Education in an amount not to
exceed $250,000 for facility renovations and repairs for the term July 1, 2009 through June
30, 2012.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No County match
100% State funds
BACKGROUND:
On May 4, 2009 the Department submitted a one-time funding application in the amount of
$250,000 to the California Department of Education / Child Development Division for
facility renovations and repairs.
Identified sites for renovation or repair include:
Brookside Center (Richmond, CA)

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Employment & Human Services Department Community Services Bureau supports
three of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes - Outcome 1: “Children Ready for and
Succeeding in School,” Outcome 3: “Families that are Economically Self-sufficient,” and,
Outcome 4: “Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing.” These outcomes are achieved
by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education,
nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County.
