Subject:Authorize the Librarian to close the Crockett and Brentwood libraries for approximately two weeks
BACKGROUND:
Crockett Library
A grant of $20,000, provided by the Crockett Community Foundation, will provide partial
restoration of the Arts and Crafts building to its original design by adding hardwood floors
and repainting the interior. The grant will provide funds to repair bookshleves, upgrade the
electrical system and lighting, and add an outlet and data port at the service desk. The
County General Services Department will oversee the project.
The library will reopen July 6, 2009.
Brentwood Library
In order to proceed with a new civic center, the City of Brentwood has worked with the
County Library to plan a new library in an existing building at 104 Oak Street. The new
library will occupy approximately 5,000 sq. feet in the building and will expand to the entire
18,000 sq. feet once city staff relocate to the new city hall and funds are available to
renovate the remainder of the building.
