Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner,
M.D.), to execute, on behalf of the County, Agreement #28-594-21 with the County of
Alameda, to pay County an amount not to exceed $200,547 for coordination of essential
services to Contra Costa County residents with HIV Disease and their families, for the
period from April 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This agreement will result in a total of $200,547 from the County of Alameda, as the
Grantee of federal funds under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act of
2006, Part B. No County match is required.
BACKGROUND:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has designated the County of Alameda
as “Grantee” for the purpose of administering the Ryan White CARE Act, Title

BACKGROUND: (CONT'D)
II funds for County’s local HIV Care Consortium, to improve the quality, availability and
organization of health care and support services for individuals with HIV disease and their
families.
On June 3, 2008, the Board of Supervisors approved Agreement #28-594-20 with the
County of Alameda, as the Grantee of Federal Ryan White CARE Act, Part B funds, for the
period from April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009, for the HIV CARE Consortium.
Approval of Agreement #28–594-21 continues funding for these services through March 31,
2010, including mutual indemnification to hold harmless both parties for any claims arising
out of the performance of this contract.
Five sealed/certified copies of this Board Order should be returned to the Contracts and
Grants Unit for submission to the County of Alameda.
