topographic mapping survey of the 19 mile long Iron Horse corridor.
After six months he was assigned to the Survey section of the Design division; shortly
after entering Surveys, Pat saw a need for improvement in the way survey calculations
were done. As a result of this he became one of the early programmers in the survey
section creating several copyrighted programs and tutorials used by Contra Costa County
Public Works and Surveyors throughout the US in the 1990's.
After rotating to office duties, Pat once again used his computer expertise to aid Public
Works efforts by developing better interface opereations between Computer Aided
Drafting operations and field survey operations. As a result of his efforts it was now
possible for Public Works employees to collect data in the field, upload it to office
computers and process the data for use by project engineers within days rather than
weeks.
Pat was selected as the Public Works Award of Excellence recipient on several occasions
for his individual efforts and recognized on several other occasions as a member of
successful team efforts within Public Works.
During his tenure with Contra Costa County, Pat was honored by his fellow employees
when he was elected first as a Trustee and then as a member of the Executive Board and
finally as the President of American Federation of State County and Municipal
Employees Local 512; as President, Pat worked closely with members of the Board os
Supervisors on many occasions. Currently as a leader of the effort to organize the
Unrepresented Management of Contra Costa County, Pat is looking forward to being able
to once again work with the Board of Supervisors to find solutions to the problems that
face the County.
