APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment & Human Services Director, or designee, to
execute a contract with the Contra Costa County Office of Education, in an amount not to
exceed $394,785, for Workforce Investment Act (WIA) In-School Youth Services for the
period November 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$394,785: 100% Federal Workforce Investment Act; No County Costs
BACKGROUND:
Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa (WDB) and the Youth Council, awarded
this Interagency Agreement to the Contra Costa County Office of Education under the open
bid process, Request for Interest 1100, for in-school and follow-up youth services as
mandated by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). The Youth Council and WDB awarded
this Interagency Agreement for these services. Services include vocational assessment, job
and apprenticeship placements, employment credentialing, career preparation services, job
retention support, mentoring and individualized program planning, and Foster Youth Case
Management Services.
