HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 05192009 - C.30RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Oakland Private Industry Council to decrease the contract payment limit by $50,000 for a total contract payment limit not to exceed $528,484 for decreased funding to Workforce Investment Act Adult services, WIA Dislocated Worker funding for classroom training services, and to reflect the Workforce Development Board budget modifications to include Economic Stimulus One funding with no change to the contract term of July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. In this capacity, OPIC is responsible for contracting with and paying training vendors who provide Workforce Investment Act (WIA) related job and skills training to clients served by WDB. This Board Order authorizes the Director of the Employment and Human Services Department to decrease the contract payment limit to OPIC by $50,000 from $578,484 to a new payment limit of $528,484. The Workforce Development Board budget modifications breakdown as follows: decrease WIA Adult services by 95,000, decrease WIA Dislocated Worker by 55,000 and at the same time include 100,000 Economic Stimulus One funding that became available at the beginning of 2009. (18-020-15) CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children and Youth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families,” by assisting with training and employment services.
