FISCAL IMPACT: No Fiscal Impact BACKGROUND: The California State Summer School for the Arts was established to help prepare talented high school students for careers in the arts and entertainment industries. Thirteen local high school students have been awarded the California Arts Scholars designation and selected to participate in the 2009 California State Summer School for the Arts program. Awards are provided in the areas of creative writing, visual arts, film/video, music instrument, music vocal, theatre and animation.
