HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04282009 - C.25RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Administrator, or his designee, to apply for and accept from the California Arts Council State-Local Partnership Program a grant to the Arts and Culture Commission in the amount of $15,000 for general operating support in fiscal year 2009-2010. FISCAL IMPACT: An in-kind match is required by the County. Office space will meet this required match. BACKGROUND: Established by the Board of Supervisors in December 1996 as an official County commission and the authorized County partner with the California Arts Council, the Arts and Culture Commission (AC5) first applied for and received funding from the State-Local Partnership Program in July 1995 for fiscal year 1995-1996. The Board of Supervisors annually reaffirms the Arts and Culture Commission as the authorized partner of the State-Local Partnership Program of the California Arts Council. The revival of the grant program for 2006-2007 was a positive step toward a healthy future for the arts in California. The County Administrator's Office has applied for an received grant funding annually since that time. General operating support provided by the California Arts Council will help ensure the implementation of local arts programming to benefit County residents.
