HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04212009 - C.62RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designnee, to execute a contract with Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) of the East Bay-West Contra Costa Branch, a Non-Profit Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $267,045 to provide Support Father Involvement Project Services for the period July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010. FISCAL IMPACT: $267,045: 100% State Funding. BACKGROUND: The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA)of the East Bay- West Contra Costa Branch will be the employer of record for seven staff who will operate the Supporting Father Involvement Project (SFI). This project seeks to improve mother-father relationships for low-income parents involved in or at risk of becoming involved in the child welfare system. Parents must have school aged children. SFI provides parents with structured, 32-hour group sessions facilitated by clinicians and case managers. SFI staff will collaborate with the North Richmond Service Integration Team (SIT) and will be based in the Family Service Center. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT: This contract supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children’s Report Card: 1) “Children Ready for and Succeeding in School”; 2) “Children andYouth Healthy and Preparing for Productive Adulthood”; 3) “Families that are Economically Self Sufficient”; 4) “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing”; and 5) “Communities that are Safe and Provide a High Quality of Life for Children and Families.” This is accomplished through maintaining family stability and fostering child well being.
