HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04212009 - C.60RECOMMENDATION(S):
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Sheriff-Coroner, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Behavioral
Interventions, Inc., to expand the scope of service to include new electronic home detention monitoring equipment,
with no change to the payment limit or contract term.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No additional County costs. Electronic Home Detention (EHD) Program participation fees collected from
inmates fund this contract. The contract amendment does not increase the authorized payment limit.
BACKGROUND:
The Office of the Sheriff will add the HomeGuard Digital Cell Unit (HG206) to the electronic monitoring equipment
we currently use. The current monitoring equipment requires a home phone land-line to be used. The newest
equipment enables B. I. Inc.’s electronic monitoring services to be installed without a telephone line connected to the
home; it is accessed through cellular telephone service. The equipment allows the Office of the Sheriff more
flexibility in electronic home detention monitoring. Two spare units will be provided at no charge to the County.
The cost of the equipment rental is equivalent to the current equipment.
