OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY , CALIFORNIA i_ Adopted this Order on November 27, 1984 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers , Fanden, Schroder , McPeak, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Ambulance Contracts for Assigned Emergency Response Areas In a memorandum to the Board dated November 20, 1984 , William Walker , M .D.. , County Health Officer , described the competi- tive bid and review process for contracts to provide ambulance services for emergency (Code-3) and urgent (Code-2) calls dispatched by County Communications and the Delta Regional Communications Center . Dr . Walker advised that a public hearing was held on November 16, 1984 , on proposed changes in emergency response area designations . He advised that the awarding of the ambulance contracts is based on the establishment of five emergency response areas (a change from the 10-area configuration) and eliminates the need for ambulance subsidies . Dr . Walker recommended that contracts for two-year terms commencing December 29, 1984, be awarded as follows: Emergency Response Area I : Cadillac Ambulance Service Area: Includes all of West County, Martinez, Pleasant Hill , Lafayette , Orinda , and that portion of Walnut Creek west of Highway 680 . Emergency Response Area II : Regional Medical Systems Area: Includes Concord , Clayton , a portion of Walnut Creek east of Highway 680 , and unincorporated areas up to the East County 911 district boundaries . Emergency Response Area III : Moraga Fire Protection District Area: Includes the Moraga Fire Protection District boundaries . Emergency Response Area IV: San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Area: Includes Alamo , Danville , San Ramon , and the unincorporated areas in southern Contra Costa County Emergency Response Area V: Regional Medical Systems Area: Includes all of East County.
