HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 04072009 - C.71RECOMMENDATION(S): APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute a purchase order with Unified TelData, Inc., on behalf of the Department of Information Technology, in an amount not to exceed $ 520,000 to purchase an Avaya S8730/650 Private Box Exchange (PBX). FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of $520,000 is budgeted under FY 2008/2009 and is charged back to user Departments via the DoIT billing process. BACKGROUND: The Harris LH PBX was installed in 1991 at 595 Center Ave. to serve both 595 and 597 Center Ave for their Voice Telephone communications needs. It has been an extremely reliable system. However, its production life ended in 1996, and in year 2000 new service parts became unavailable. Although we have been utilizing used and refurbished parts to extend the service life of the Harris LH PBX, the supply of service parts, used or refurbished, have now become exhausted. BACKGROUND: (CONT'D) The Avaya S8730/650 PBX will replace the Harris LH PBX. In accordance with Administrative Bulletin No 611.0, County Departments are required to get Board approval for single item purchases over $100,000. The County Administrator’s Office has reviewed this request and recommends approval. CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION: If not approved outdated telephone equipment could fail which would lead to a failure of telephone service to both 595 and 597 Center Ave. ATTACHMENTS PBX 520000 Suppl Form
