APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Office of
the Sheriff’s Forensic Services Crime Laboratory and the Regional Access Network (RAN)
Board, a purchase order with Cogent Systems, Inc., in the amount of $162,375 for latent
work station applications. (100% Cal-ID RAN funding)
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact to the County General Fund. All Cal-ID purchases are funded by the
Regional Access Network Board. Cost is $162,375.
BACKGROUND:
The Cogent Systems Latent Work Station Application software is designed for use with the
existing Store and Forward fingerprint identification system. The Regional Access Network
Board has approved the purchase of eleven (11) Applications from the CAL-ID trust fund.
Ten of the applications will be installed at the Sheriff's Central Identification Services Unit,
and one will be installed at the Concord Police Department. No other vendors' software is
compatible with the existing systems. The purchase of these workstations will greatly
increase the productivity
