Subject:Ordinance to Establish East County Regional Planning Commission Terms Coterminous with District
Supervisor
BACKGROUND:
On January 27, 2009, the Board directed the Department to draft an ordinance which would establish that the terms of
the members of the East County Regional Planning Commission are coterminous with the supervisorial terms of
office for District III and District V. The proposed Ordinance 2009-07 provides for this change.
The East County Regional Planning Commission is a five-member body with members representing each of the
following five unincorporated communities: Bay Point, Bethel Island, Byron, Discovery Bay and Knightsen. The
adoption of the proposed ordinance would extend the terms of the three existing members. The terms of
Commissioners Edmond Stevenson who represents Bay Point and Anthony Pigati who represents Knightsen would be
extended fifteen months from October 7, 2011 to January 7, 2013. The term of Commissioner Jack Hanna who
represents Bethel Island would be extended three months from October 7, 2012 to January 7, 2013.
