CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Recognition )
of Bob Hilson ) RESOLUTION N0. 84/605
WHEREAS the Martinez Rotary Club is sponsoring a "Bob Hilson
Day" on October 10, 1984; and
WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors concurs with such recogni-
tion of Bob Hilson, long-time Martinez businessman; and
WHEREAS Mr. Hilson was born in Illinois, attended grammar
school in Oakland, California and Alhambra High School in Martinez,
California; and
WHEREAS Mr. Hilson attended the University of California,
Berkeley, and served in the U.S. Army during World War I; and
WHEREAS on graduation from college in 1921, he began working
at the store which his father had acquired in 1912 and which became
known as Hilson's Store; and
WHEREAS Mr. Hilson has been active in community affairs as a
member of the American Legion, Past President of the Martinez Chamber
of Commerce, Director of the California Retailers Association, and a
member of the Commonwealth Club; and
WHEREAS Mr. Hilson has been a member of the Martinez Rotary
Club for 40 years with a perfect attendance record;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS HEREBY EXPRESSES its appreciation to Bob Hilson
for his contributions to the economy of the City of Martinez by the
long-time operation of Hilson's Store, and for his contributions to
Martinez community affairs.
PASSED by the Board of Supervisors on October 9, 1984 by
unanimous vote of the Board members present.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors
on the date aforementioned.
