SUBJECT: REVOLVING FUAD SHORTAGE REPLACEMENT
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize the Auditor-Controller to allocate $290.95 to the Social Service
Department Revolving Fund to replace stolen petty cash and provide relief to
the Social Service Department from the shortage.
BACKGROUND
Between June 22, 1984 and July 16, 1984 a total of $290. 95 was stolen from
petty cash in the Revolving Fund from the Richmond District office at
1305 MacDonald Avenue. Investigation and resolution of the theft problem
is being handled by the Richmond Police Detective Division. Neither the
shortage nor any delay in the discovery was caused by fraud or gross
negligence. However, the Social Service Department has taken precautionary
measures to lower the risk of future petty cash losses. In addition to
requesting an allocation to cover the shortage, the Director Social Service
Department requests relief from the shortage.
