SUBJECT: Proclaiming November 7-13, 1982 National Hospice Week
RESOLUTION N0.82/1292
Whereas, President Reagan on May 24, 1982 signed the
resolution proclaiming the week of November 7, 1982 as
NATIONAL HOSPICE WEEK; and
Whereas, this is an opportunity to increase public
awareness about the importance of the hospice concept
of care for the terminally ill and their families; and
Whereas, celebrations in recognition of NATIONAL
HOSPICE WEEK will take. place across the nation involving
receptions, exhibits, workshops, symposia, public school
programs, public library book fairs, service club programs,
church and synagogue tributes and hospice organization
events; and
Whereas, quality hospice service is provided in Contra
Costa County for the terminally ill and their families by
dedicated people in the health professions, social services
and clergy as well as volunteers;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Contra Costa County
Board of Supervisors does hereby proclaim the week of
November 7, 1982, as NA'rIONAL HOSPICE WEEK in recognition
of the hospice concept of care and the dedicated service
provided for the terminally ill and their families in our
count y.
