SUBJECT: Adopting the Emergency Plan, Annexes and Contingency Plans
RESOLUTION NO. 84/11
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMM. NDATION(S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
It is requested that the Board of Supervisors adopt the Contra Costa County
Emergency Plan, Annexes and Contingency Plans.
BACKGROUND:
The last. Resolution adopting a County Civil Defense and Disaster Plan was
passed by the Board in 1973. Since then, many parts of the Plan have become
outdated and are not currently applicable.
The State Office of Emergency Services requires that Emergency Plans be updated
periodically for a jurisdiction to remain eligible for certain federal and state
assistance. Additionally, it is necessary that an approved Master Plan for
Disaster Management be established to insure planning consistency for departments
and agencies operating within the county.
This Plan has beensimplified and revised to encompass all
_.currently necessary revisions and expansions to effectively manage large scale
disasters impacting Contra Costa County. This Plan has also been approved by the
County Disaster Councl and recommends its adoption by your Board. A copy Of said
Plan is on file in the office of the Clerk of the Board.
