Wingett, County Administrator Date: December 12, 1983 Attn: Tom Welch From: Richard K. Rainey, Sheriff-Coroner Subject: Ambulance Radio Acquisition by: W. E. pf, Assistant Sheriff It has been the practice that county radios for private ambulances have been furnished by the county upon request. Funds for this purpose have come from the Unappropriated Reserve. Attached is a letter from Paula Hines, EMS Director outlining the need for the purchase of 3 portable radios for paramedics. In addition to their higher medical skills, the difference between paramedic service and basic life support service is the ability of the paramedics to talk directly to a base station hospital from the field. This is accomplished in our county via portable radios. The unit price per radio is $1,768.00 plus tax; less credit for quantity buying. Attached is an Appropriation Adjustment for $5,563.56.
