BACKGROUND On December 3, 1983 the West side of the levee at Bradford Island was subjected to extreme wind, high tides and rainfall and the Marine Patrol Division of the Sheriff-Coroners Office did provide transportation, communication, and evacuation assistance to the residents of the stricken Delta Island. This division with extremely reduced staff continued to maintain security patrol around the island even after the evacuation to minimize looting, vandalism, injury and/or contamination. BACKGROUND On December 3, 1953, the West side of the levee at Bradford Island was subjected to extreme wind, high tides and rainfall and the Bethel Island Fire Department did provide warning, notification, transportation and evacuation assistance to the residents of the stricken Delta Island.
