HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 12291970 - 70-873 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proposed ) RESOLUTION NUMBER 7,0/873 Federal Revenue Sharing } Plan. )) WHEREAS President Richard M. Dixon presented a federal revenue sharing plan to the U. S. Congress and bills related thereto were introduced in both the U. S. Senate and the U. S. House of Representatives; and WHEREAS under said plan, allocations of federal funds would be made to states, counties, cities and townships to assist said jurisdictions in financing vital state and local programs; and WHEREAS there is an urgent need for such funding in California and Other states to alleviate the tremendous burden being imposed upon taxpayers in the form of local property taxes and state income and sales taxes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA. COSTA., CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it strongly supports the federal revenue sharing concept; and BE IT BY THE BOARD ALSO RESOLVED that said plan be imDlemented in a manner such that federal funds are made available for state and local use on a continuing basis without the imo sition of restrictive standards but subject to such federal audits as are deemed necessary; and BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that U. S. Senator Alan Cranston, U. S. Senator Elect John V. r'unney and Congressman Jerome R. Waldi'e are urged to work vigorously to obtain congressional approval of a federal revenue shar- ing plan as hereinabove described.
