Raiders and. San Francisco 49ers will be playing an important professional football league game on December 20, 1970 at the Oakland Coliseum; and. WHEREAS there is an understandable professional football league policy to have a TV blackout in the home area, to insure Barre attendance; and WHEREAS the San Francisco 491ars and Oakland. Raiders game is a complete sellout and thousands of interested .fans are unable to obtain tickets ; and WHEREAS a precedent has been set for lifting the blackout ba.n when the New York Giants and New York Jets both consented to televise a sellout game in their home area under similar circum- stances on November 1, 1970; and WHEREAS the San Francisco 49'ers have consented to lift said ban for the December 20, 10703 game; and �AMEREAS the consent of the Oakland Raiders is also needed in order to have the TV blackout lifted; and W'I EIREAS the lifting of the TIT blackout it this instance would retain for the Oakland Raiders and. the San Francisco 9 'ers the good will of thousands of football fans in the Saar Area.; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY T1141—h BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it urges the Oakland :Raiders football team to join with the San Francisco 49ters in consenting, to lift the TV blackout to allow the many thousands of football fans who are unable to obtain ticketsoto view the 'december 20, 10/70 game between the two teams .
