In the Matter of Retirement
of H. R. Griffith, Principal RESOLUTION DUMBER 70/792
Planner.
WHEREAS Mr. H. R. Griffith is retiring from employment with
the County of Contra Costs, California effective December 'l, 1970;
and
*WHEREAS Mr. Griffith entered the employ of the county in
1945 in the capacity of .Assistant Planning Technician and was among
the first professional planners to enter the county service; and
WHEREAS Mr. Griffith. during his entire twenty-five year,
tenure with the county was responsible under the Director of Planning,
for the supervision of both technical planning and departmental
administrative functions and served: in the capacity of Principal
Planner since 1954,,* and
WHEREAS Mr. Griffith during his service with the county saw
it grow from a predominantly rural area with a population of about
200,000 to an urban complex with a population of 550000 and with
great agricultural, residential, commercial and industrial components;
and
WHEREAS the planning capacity of Mr. Griffith is reflected
not only by his county planning service but also by his membership in
organizations such as the American Society of Planning Officials and
the American Society of Landscape Architects; and
WHEREAS Mfr. Griffith hes aided significantly in the solution
of many planning problems in the past and has helped to place
Contra Costa County in a favorable position to plan for the present
and the future;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OP CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOD E�D that it extends to
Mr. H. R. Griffith sincere appreciation for his dedicated efforts
and accomplishments during the last twenty-five years and wishes ,for
him a long and enjoyable life in retirement.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 24th day of November, 1970 by the
following vote of the Board:
AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny, J. E. Moriarty,
E. A. Linscheid, T. J. Coll.
NOES: Norge.
ABSENT: Supervisor A. M. Dias.
