IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of the Resignation ) RESOLUTION NUMBER 70/780
of Jack O'Keefe ,, City of Stockton )
Police Chief.
WHEREAS this Board has been apprised of the retirement
of Jack O'Keefe, Chief of Police, City of Stockton, County of
San Joaquin., State of California; and
WHEREAS Jack O'Keefe participated in sports activities
and obtained distinctive athletic and academic honors at
St . Mary's College In the twenties and was graduated from
that institution with a Bachelor of Arts Degree; and
WHEREAS Mr. O'Keefe after continuing his athletic
career for sometime as a player and coach was appointed to
the City of Stockton Police Department in 1936; and
WHEREAS Mr. O'Keefe after advancement through the
ranks was named Chief of Police of the City of Stockton
in 1950 and continued in that post for a score of years ;
and
WHEREAS Chief O'Keefe is well known locally, state-
wide and nationally for his outstanding service in the law
enforcement field and in connection therewith has been the
recipient of numerous awards and commendations ; and
WHEREAS Chief O'Keefe during his long tenure in the
field of law enforcement foundtime to participate as a mem-
ber and a leader in many professional, community and service
organizations and through them made significant contributions
to his fellow men, including many youths who have achieved
success in business and in their communities as a result of
relationships with him; and
WHEREAS Chief O'Keefe as a 1 1 oyal Gael has maintained
a close relationship with his Alma Mater., St . Mary 's College
in Contra Costa County, and is known by many persons locally
as a friend and for his distinguished police service ;
NOW,, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it extends
to Mr. Jack O'Keefe its sincere compliments for his outstanding
work in the field of law enforcement., expresses to him its
deep appreciation for the assistance rendered by him to his
fellow men in the County of San Joaquin and the County of
RESOLUTION NUMBER 70/780
Contra Costa and throughout the state, commends him for his
many years of service to youth, and Dopes that he will,
enjoy a long and happy life in retirement .
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board this 17th day of
November, 1970 .
