IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, ;STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Complimenting ) the Registration and Election RESOLUTION NUMBER 74 `762 Supervisor and Staff. WHEREAS the 1970 General Election was conducted on November 3, 19743 and WHEREAS in Contra Costa County nearly 205,000 persons representing 78 percent of the total number of eligible voters cast ballots in said election and WHEREAS a long ballot was required in said election to cover votingfor federal and state officials and a large number of state and local propositions; and 14HEREAS polis were open for 13 hours (7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide a full opportunity for all ''voters to cant ballots; and 'REAS the voter count for all officials and propositions was completed at 3 a m on November 4, 1970 despite the large number of ballot items; and WHEREAS for the first time voting results were transmitted at frequent intervals to the Office of they Secretary of :State in Sacramento using teleprocessing terminals; and WHEREAS the efficient and effective way in which the election in Contra Costa. County was conducted and the rapid 'manner in which election results were determined reflect great credit upon the planning and operating efforts of Mr. James R. Olsson, Registration and Election Supervisor and all members of his staff, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY•, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it expresses sincere appreciation to Mr. James R. Olsson, Registration and Election Supervisor and his staff and compliments them upon' the excellent manner in which the November 3, 1970 General Election was conducted in Contra Costa County. PASSED and ADOPTED this 10th day of November, 1970 by the following vote AYES'; Supervisors A. H. bias, J. E. Moriarty, E. A. Lins>cheid, T. J. Coll. NOES: None. ASSENT. ,Supervisor J. P. Denny.
