HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09012004 - 70-713 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Endorsing Passage of Proposition "W" } RESOLUTION NO. 70/713 on the November 3, 1970 � Ballot. WHEREAS Mr. Grant Burton, Chairman of the Citizens Committee for Proposition "W" appeared before the Board and urged its support of Proposition "W", approval of an amended water supply contract betweenthe Contra Costa County Water District and the U. S. Bureau. of Reclamation, which contract requires approval of the electorate; and WHEREAS since 1951 the Contra Costa County Water District has obtained water from the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation's Contra Costa Canal under a contract which guaranteed maximum annual delivery of 86,000 acre feet of water estimated to be adequate to 1991; and WHEREAS the needs of the growing population in the area serviced by the Contra Costa County Water District already exceeds the contract maximum; and WHEREAS said district and the U. S. Bureau of Reclamation have recently approved an amended contract which insures the annual requirements up to 195,000 acre feet of water per year until 1991 and which provides for improvements to the canal system, the cost of which would be included in: the water rates paid to the Bureau of Reclamation and, therefore, would not require additional taxes and would, in fact, stabilize water costs to the district; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that it endorses the passage of Proposition "W'" and urges the citizens within the Contra Costa County Water District to vote favorably on said proposition. PASSED and ADOPTED this 27th day of October, 1970 by the following vote of the Board: AYES; Supervisors J. P. Kenny, A. M. Dias , J. E. Moriarty, E', A. Linseheid, T. J. foil. NOES: None.
