HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09012004 - 70-652 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Expressing, RESOLUTION NUMER 70/652 Appreciation to the Honorable } Jef'f'erson McNamara. � WHEREAS the Honorable Jefferson McNamara is retiring as Judge of the Crockett-Port Costa. Judicial District; and WHEREAS Judge McNamara was first elected to public office as Justice of the Peace of the 12th Township in 1942, con- tinued in that capacity until his election as Judge of the Crockett Judicial District In 1952, was re-elected as Judge of the Crockett Judicial District in 1958 and 1964 and was appointed 'Judge of the consolidated Crockett-Port Costa Judicial District in 1968; and WHEREAS during his tenure of nearly three 'decades as a member of the local judiciary; in Contra Costa County, Judge McNamara became well known for his impartialtreatment of persons who appeared in his court and also for rendering decisions in which justice was compassionately balanced by mitigating circum- stances; and WHEREAS Judge McNamara, as well as being a well known public official, is also a prominent community fader and in connection therewith participated for half a century as an active member of the Native Sans of the Golden West, and for fifty years as a :member of the Improved Order of Redmen and is now serving as President of the Judges, Marshals and Constables Association of Contra Costa. County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF 'CONTRA COSTA,, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it extends to the Honorable Jefferson McNamara its sincere appreciation for his extended service as a member of the county judiciary and as a community leader, compliments him on his notable professional and civic accomplishments, and wishes ,for him a bang and enjoyable life in retirement. PASSED and ADOPTED this 6th day of October, 1970 by the following vote of the Board: AYES Supervisors J. P. Kenny, :A. M. Dias, J. E. Moriarty, E. A. Li.nsohed, T. J . Coll. NOES: None. ABSENT: Nene.
