HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09132004 - 71-705 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Expressing ) Appreciation to Mr. Harman Howard, } RESOLUTION NO. 71/745 Chairman, Baldwin Memorial Committee . WHEREAS this Board on March 10, 1966 approved appointment of a citizens committee with the responsibility of determining what would be an appropriate memorial in, honor of the late Congressman John F. Baldwin and designated Mr . Harmon Howard, Walnut Creek, California, as Chairman of said committee; and WHEREAS said committee considered various proposals and ways and means for establishing a suitable memorial as a. lasting reminder of the outstanding services of the late Congressman who worked tirelessly and successfully in the interests of the people of Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS said committee recommended that a special new room in the growing Central County Library be designated as a permanent memorial.; and WHEREAS this Board on January 12 , 1971 adopted its Resolution No. 71/23 designating a new Reference Room at the Central County Library as the "Baldwin Reference Library" in memory' of Congressman Baldwin and as tribute to this great public servant; and WHEREAS the Baldwin Memorial Committee, after diligent effort under the direction of Mr. Howard, has accomplished its objective in arranging for the development and financing of aforesaid memorial; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNT' OF CONTRA COSTA RESOLVED that it extends to Mr. Harman Howard and his fellow committee members its- sincere appreciation for their fine community service and congratulates them on their choice of a memorial that will •be used by both the young and old of Contra Costa County long into the future PASSED and ADOPTED this 26th day of October, -1971, by the following vote AYES: Supervisors A. M. Di.a.s, J. E. Moriarty, W. N. Boggess, E. A. Lnseheid, J. P. Kenny. NOES: None. ABSENT: Kone.
