WHEREAS Section 900 of the Welfare and Institutions Code of the State of California authorizes the Board of Super- visors to establish maximum amounts which the juvenile court may Order the county to pay for the support and maintenance of wards or dependent children of the juvenile court or of minor persons concerning whom a petition has been filed in accordance with the nrovision of the Welfare and Institutions Code; and. WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors wishes to establish the maximum amounts which the juvenile court may order the county to pay for such care; and WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors wishes to establish the maximum amount authorized for the payment of care of children placed in foster homes licensed by the Contra Costa County Social Service Department and by the State Department of Mental Hygiene and also to fix the maximum payment for children placed in hoes under the authority of the juvenile court law; and WHEREAS the Final Budget for the 1971-1972 fiscal year provides for an increase of 5 par month in the rates established by Board Resolution No. 70/'585; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that the following maximum rues for faster home care shall apply effective September 1, '1971 except for the special rates fixed by the Board of Supervisors for specific children: 1. '105 per month for children through age b, 2. $110 per month for children age 7 through 11, 3. $125 per month for children age 12 to 21; and BE IT BY THE BOAR? FURTHER RESOLVED that the rates specified in Subparagraphs 1, 2 and 3 above may be increased by the amount of 10 per month on the recomiendation of case workers with the approval of immediate supervisors when foster parents are required to incur reoccurring extra expenses or to assume supervision responsibilities beyond those normally expected of faster parents, such as children with severe behavior problems, or children who are extremely emotionally upset, or children having medi.oal conditions requiring special diets, or children with long-term problems involving unusual transportation demands, or children with long-terra special needs, and RESOLUTION NUT-1BER 71Ao5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the maximum rate of foster care for children placed in homes licensed by the State Department of Mental Hygiene is $200 per month', and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the rates specified in this resolution shall be interpreted to be maximum amourts to be paid with lower or going rates to be paid wherever feasible; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the maximum rates specified in this resolution are applicable to all placements of children under the jurisdiction of the county departments except that: 1. A maximum foster home rate of $150 for the care of children with crippling medical problems requiring amusing care on the part of foster parents may be authorized by special approval of the Board in each case; 2. Other special rates may be authorized under extraordinary circumstances by special approval of the Board in each case. PASSED and ADOPTED this 14th day of September, 1971, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors A. M. Dias, J. E. Moriarty, W. N. Boggess, E. A. Linscheid, J. P. Kenny. NOES: None.
