Survey - West Antioch Creek. ) RESOLUTION NO. 71,1565
}
WHEREAS lands in the West Antioch Creek Watershed have
been changing rapidly from agricultural to residential and
commercial uses, thereby increasing flood problems in the lower
watershed; and
WHEREAS the increased flood damage potential has been
of growing concern to the County of 'Contra Costa, City of Antioch,
and residents of the watershed; and
WHEREAS the Contra Costa County Flood Control and Water
Conservation District has rade a preliminary survey of the flood
problem and has developed a reconnaissance plan for correction
which was used as the basis for formation of a County Service Area
(U-3) covering the West Antioch Creek Watershed; and
WHEREAS the Advisory Board for County Service Area D-3,
after studying the problem and the proposed plan for correction,
has recommended to this Board that federal assistance be solicited
to solve this problem;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the U. S. Army Corps
of Engineers be and is hereby requested to investigate the flood
problem of West Antioch Creep and determine the feasibility of
making a flood control survey for the correction of said problem;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Flood
Control and Water Conservation District submit to the U. S. Army
Corps of Engineers their basic field data and preliminary plans for
the proposed solution of the problem and to cooperate with the
Corps of Engineers in every way possible to assist in the feasi-
bility determination; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Corps of Engineers is
urged to make this investigation at the earliest opportunity and to
submit its findings to this Board as soon as possible.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 31st day of August, 1971 by the
following vote of the Board:
AYES: Supervisors A. M. bias, J. E. Moriarty,
E. A. Linscheid, J. P. Kenny.
.NOES. None.
ABSENT: Supervisor W. N. Boggess.
