California Division of Highways.
WHEREAS Mr. R. Arthur Hayler, Deputy District Engineer,
Operations, District 4, California Division of Highways,
San Francisco, California has announced his retirement from state
service effective September 1, 1971; and
WHEREAS Mr. Hayler has rendered nearly four decades of
dedicated service to the State of California, working his way
through the ranks from his .initial assignment of Junior Engineer-
ing Aide to his current status of Deputy District Engineer; and
WHEREAS during his tenure with the California Division, of
Highways Mr. Hayler participated in and directed a large number
and variety of important assignments, all of which were conducted
with the objective of providing improved' highway transporation in
the State of California; and
WHEREAS the technical capacity of Mr. Hayler is further
reflected by the fact that he is a licensed professional engineer
in the State of California, an officer of the American Public
Warks Association, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil
Engineers, and a member' of a number of honorary fraternities; and
WHEREAS Mr. Hayler has arrays extended full cooperation
to the County of Contra Costa and provided local public works
officials with the benefit of his training, experience, and
advice;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it compliments
Mr. R Arthur Hayler for his outstanding work with the California
Division of Highways, extends to him its deep appreciation for
the services which he has rendered to elected officials and staff
personnel in Contra Costa County, and wishes for him a long and
enjoyable life in his retirement.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 17th day of August, 1971 by the
following vote of the Board:
APES: Supervisors J. E. Moriarty, W. N. Boggess,
E. A. Linscheid, J. P. Kenny.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Supervisor A. M. Dias.
