HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09102004 - 71-409 IN THM BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Commending Supervisor A. M. Dias , General RESOLUTION NO . 71/409 Chairman , George Miller , Jr. Memorial Committee. } WHEREAS the Berard on January 7, 1969 approved appointment of a committee for the purpose of recommending an appropriate memorial to the late Senator George Miller, Jr . , and subsequently made appointments thereto with Supervisor A. M. Dias serving as General Chairman of said committee ; and WHEREAS Supervisor Dias effectively organized said committee , arranged for its numerous meetings , and called upon various citizens with special knowledge to assist the committee in its endeavor; and WHEREAS the committee after extended deliberations recommended that the Centra Costa County Multipurpose Centers for the Mentally Retarded (Hilltop in Richmond and Seal Bluff in Concord) be renamed in honor of the late Senator in view of his numerous successful Legislative efforts in the field of health and education; and WHEREAS the Board on July 13, 1971 adopted Resolution No. 71/445 renaming aforesaid centers to the George Miller, Jr. Memorial Center- East (Concord) and the George Miller , Jr . , Memorial Center-West (Richmond ) to reflect the well known concern of Senator Miller for the welfare of the mentally retarded and his activities in the feld. of mental health; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY . OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it sincerely thanks Super- visor A. M. Dias for his special and extra efforts as General Chairman of said committee and commends him and his fellow committee members for their fine work and wise choice of an appropriate and lasting memorial to the Late Senator George Miller , Jr. PASSED and ADOPTED this 22nd day of June , 1971, by the fallowing vote of they Board*, AYES: Supervisors J.
