IN' THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF 'CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Expressing ) Appreciation to Mr. Peter RESOLUTION NUMBER 71/394 Confer for Service to the � Memorial Corrm i ttee for the � Late Senator George Miller, Jr. ) WHEREAS a committee was appointed by this Board in 1969 to recommend a suitable memorial for the late Senator George Killer, Jr., who served in the California ,State Legislature for more than two decades and rendered exemplary service to the people of Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS said committee met on frequent occasions and evaluated the merits of various means of commemorating on a permanent basis the outstanding public service of Senator T ilsr; and T4H� 'EAS after detailed studies the committee recommended to this Board that the two new county development centers for the mentally handicapped might be appropriately named as memorials to Senator Miller because of his fine legislative work in the education and health fields; and WHEREAS this Board agreed with the commute recom- mendation that the Concord area center be designated as the George Miller, Jr. Memorial Center Fast and the Richmond area center as the George Miller, Jr. Memorial Center West; and WHEREAS Mr. Peter Confer, Concord, California, rendered valuable service to the committee, particularly in connection' with the design and purchase of appropriate name signs for the memorial centers; N01W, THEREFORE, on the motion of Supervisor A. M. Dias, seconded by Supervisor J. P. Kenny, IT IS BY THE BOARD OF SUPER- VISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CAL PORNI:A RESOLVED that it expresses to Mr. Peter Confer its sincere thanks and appreciation for his fine work in connection with the selection of an appropriate memorial for the lateSenator George Piller, Jr. PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of Jung, 1971 by the unanimous vete of the Board.
