RESOLUTION NUMBER 71/392 Cometta for Service to the ) Memorial Committee for the } Late Senator George Miller, Jr. } `aEREAS in 1969 a committee was appointed by this Board to recommend a suitable memorial for the late Senator George Miller, Jr., who served in the California State Legislature for more than 2'0 years and rendered outstanding service to the people of Contra Costa County* and ',MEREAS said committee met on frequent occasions and evaluated the merits of various means of commemorating on a permanent basis the fine public 'service of Senator Miller; and WHEREAS after detailed studies the committee recommended to this Board that the two new county development centers for the mentally handicapped might be appropriately named as memorials to Senator 'Miller because of his fine legislative work in the health and education fields; and WHEREAS this :Board agreed with the committee recom- mendation that the Concord area center be designated as the George Miller, Jr. Memorial Center Fast and the Richmond area center as the George Miller, Jr. Memorial Center West and WHEREAS Mr. Elvin A. Cometta, Martinez, California, well knownarchitect, rendered valuable service to the committee, particularly in connection ,with the design of appropriate name signs ', for the memorial centers; NOTi, THEREFORE, on the motion of Supervisor A. M. Dias, seconded by Supervisor J. P. Manny, IT IS BY THE BOARD OF SUPER- VISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it expresses to Mir. Elvin A. Cometta its sincere thanks and appreciation for his fine work in connection with the designation of an, appropriate memorial for the late Senator George Miller, Jr. PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of June, 1971 by the unanimous vote of the Board.
