IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Expressing l Appreciation to Mr. George RESOLUTION NUMBER 71/391 Archinal. for Service to the ) Memorial. Committee for the ) Late Senator George Miller, Jr. WHEREAS this Board of Supervisors appointed a committee in 1969 to make a determination on a suitable memorial for the late Senator George Miller, Jr., a member of the California State Legislature for more than 20 years; and: lt�TEREAS said committee met frequently and explored various means of commemorating on a permanent basis the distinc- tive public service of Senator Miller; and WHEREAS after an exhaustive review the committee con- cluded and recommended to the Board of Supervisors that the two new county development centers for the mentally handicapped be designated as memorials to Senator Miller, particularly in view of his numerous successful legislative efforts in the field of health and education; and vlHEREAS this :hoard concurred with the committee recom- mendation that the Concord area center be known as the George Miller, Jr. Plemorial Center East and the Richmond area center be known as the George Miller, Jr. Memorial Center West; and ,THEREAS Mr. George Archinal, Martinez, California, Public Information Officer for the Contra Costa Junior College District, served as public relations representative for the committee and performed effectively in preparing news releases and providing the 'public with pertinent information on the work of the committee; NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Supervisor A. M. Dias, seconded by Supervisor J. P. Kenny, 1T ISS BY THE BOARD OF SUPER- VISORS OF THE, COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it commends Mr. George Archinal for his fine public relations work and expresses to him its sincere thanks and appreciation for his efforts in connection with the designation of an appropriate memorial for the late Senator George Miller, Jr. PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of June, 1971 by the unanimous vote of the Board.
