HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09102004 - 71-389 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Establishment } of a Regional Criminal 'Justice } RESOLUTION NUMBER 71/389 Planning Board`'in Contra Costa } County. } } WHEREAS the Board on June 1. 1971 referred to its County Government > Operations Committee (Supervisors A. M. Bias and W N, Boggess) for review the matter of criminal. ,justice planning- and WHEREAS Contra Costa County has been designated by the California Council on Criminal Justice as a region for the purpose of criminal justices planning; and WHEREAS under regulations of the California Council. on Criminal, Justice each region is to establish asp Regional Criminal Justice Planning Board which is to formulate and submit a compre- hensive regional criminal justice improvement plan; and WHEREAS Supervisor Boggess has this day submitted the report of the committee on this matter (a copy of which is on file in the', office of the Clerk of the Board); and WHEREAS the report; of ,the County Government Operations Committee indicates that the committee generally favors composition of the proposed Regional Criminal Justice Planning Board as outlined in the regulations of the California Council on Criminal Justice but that the committee is agreeable to a maximum of 21 members so that there may be representation from each of the Model Cities programs and an additional public member, perhaps a spokesman representing they viewpoint of youth,' and WHEREAS said report indicates that a factor in the committee's recommendation with' 'respect to membership of the second' Model Cities representative is that such membership offers the possibility of both ethnic representation and: input from the low-income community; and WHEREAS the Board has thoroughly considered this matter, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD RESOLVED that there is established in Contra Costa County a Regional Criminal Justice Planning Board >'comprised of 21 members as follows 1. Member of the Board of Supervisors 2. County, Administrator 3. Sheriff 4. District Attorney 5. Probation Officer 6. Public Defender ender 7.` Superior Court Judge or Executive Officer 8. Municipal Court Judge or Clerk 9. Mayor or Councilman 10. Mayor or Councilman 11., Mayor or Councilman 12. City Manager 13, City Manager 14. Chief of Police 15. Chief of Police RESOLUTION NUMBER 71/389 16. Madel Cities Program, Richmond 17. Modal Cities Program, Pittsburg 18. Public Member 19. Public Member 20. Public Member 21. Public Member (Recommended to be a spokesman representing the viewpoint of youth) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in accordance with the regulations of the California Council on Criminal Justice they appointing organizations and/or officials are reaue3sted to name their representatives to said Regional Criminal Justice Planning Board. PASSED and ADOPTED this lth, day of June, 1971 by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors J. E. Moriarty, W. N. Boggess, E. A. Linscheid, J. P. Kenny. NOES: 27.one. ABSENT: Supervisor A.
