HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09102004 - 71-243 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STAVE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming � May 1, 1971 as LAW DAY, U.S.A. } in Contra Costa County. } RESOLUTION NUMBER 71/243 WHEREAS by Presidential Proclamation and Joint Resolution of Congress the first day of May has been stet aside as LAW DAY, U.S.A. ' throughout the United States to remind every American that his freedom and safety depend upon adherence to the rule of law; and WHEREAS many rights and freedoms which Americans accept as their birthright are made possible only by obedience to the laws establishedby--our elected representatives, and solutions of grievances no matter how just, cannot be resolved by wanton rioting, destruction of public property or by the bombings of courts and institutions of higher learningr► and WHEREAS on the occasion of this nationwide observance of the fourteenth annual celebration of LAW DAY, U.S.A. each individual is urged to seek an increased understanding of and respect for the rules of laws for it is law which unites and governs free people; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it dues hereby proclaim Saturday, May 1, 1971# as LAW DAY, U.S.A. in Contra Costa County# calls upon all organizations, schools, churches and lay groups to recognize this special day through appropriate programs, and urges its citizens to participate therein.
