IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of } Proclaiming NATIONAL. ) LIBRARY WEEK IN RESOLUTION NUMBER 71/238 CONTRA COSTA COUNTY. ) j WHEREAS the Meek of April 18 - April 24, 1971 has been dets gaated as NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK; and WHEREAS the purpose of such observance is to focus public attention on reading as a source of personal growth and fulfillment, the vital importance of reading in our national life, the "night to read" to be enjoyed by every citizen, and on our libraries which can make reading accessible to everyone; and WHEREAS the continued strength of the nation depends upon an informed and enlightened people; and WHEREAS the freedom to read is one of the basic responsibilities and privileges of all people in our nation; NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY RESOLVED that it does hereby proclaim the week of April 18 April 24, 1971 as NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, and urges all citizens in the county to visit their free public libraries and acquaint themselves with the many benefits to be derived from regular use of library services and resources. PASSED and ADOPTED on April b, 1971 by the fallowing vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors A. M. Dias, J. E. Moriarty, W. N. Boggess, E. A. Linsobeid, J. P. Komy. NOES:. None. ABSENT: Done.
