IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Proclaiming
Week of April 18 - 24, 1971, RESOLUTION NO. 71/204
ADOPTION WEEK.
WHEREAS through the efforts of licensed adoption agencies
in Contra Costa County, namely the Contra Costa County Social Ser-
vice Department and other licensed adoption agencies throughout
California, thousands of children have found permanent homes and
the shared joy of belonging in families; and
WHEREAS today agencies have prospective parents waiting
to adopt Caucasian infants in good health, while at the same time
there remain "Children Who Wait" - some past infancy., some with
medical problems, some of minority racial or ethnic background - who
also need the assurance of prompt and permanent adoptive placement;
and
WHEREAS to call attention to these children and secure for
each one the love and security which should be every child t3 birth-
right, public and voluntary adoption agencies are working together to
find parents who can open their hearts and homes to these children*
NOW,, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY RESOLVED that it does hereby PROCLAIM the week
of April 18 through 24, 1971, as ADOPTION WEEK, to bring to the
community the facts about our "Children Who Wait", and to encourage
people interested in adoption to share In the joy of those thousands
who have already become adoptive parents- and
BE IT BY THIS BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that it does hereby
COMKEND all those persons who have participated in providing children
with the warmth and stability of family life.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 30th day of March, 1971, by the
following vote of the Board:
AYES: Supervisors A. M. Dias, J. E. Moriarty,
W. N. Boggess, E. A. Linscheid, J. P. Kenny.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
