THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

SUBJECT: In the Matter of the 2003 Contra Costa County Charity Campaign
WHEREAS, Combined Health Charities of California, Bay Area Black United Fund, Earth Share of California,
Local Independent Charities, and The United Way of the Bay Area, will soon begin their 2003 fund raising
campaigns; and
WHEREAS these organizations provide vitally needed community services designed to ease human suffering,
improve personal health and protect our environment; and
WHEREAS this Board endorses a single fund raising drive among County employees to allow them the
opportunity to donate to these charitable organizations;
NOW, THEREFORE, this Board RESOLVED that Steve Bautista, County Probation Officer, is designated as
Chairperson, and Maurice Shiu, Public Works Director, as Co-Chairperson, for the 2003 Charity Drive
Campaign among County employees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all County employees are urged to donate, within their means, to the
County Charity Drive to help support the worthwhile programs administered by the participating organizations.
PASSED and ADOPTED on September 23, 2003 by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.
