HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 08042003 - 70-300 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the batter of Supporting the City of Richmond Planning } Commission in its position } RESOLUTION NUMBER 70/300 to retain East Brothers Island } Light Station as an Historical } Landmark. } } WHEREAS the City of Richmond Planning Commission has recently adoted a resolution reaffirming its position taken on March 4, 1969 to retain the East Brothers Island Light Station in Stan Francisco Bay as an Historical Landmark; and WHEREAS the United States Coast Guard has established an automated concrete block light house on said island and has removed its personnel from said station, and WHEREAS various local groups have urged that said station be nominated for selection by the National Registry of Historical Landmarks ; and WHEREAS the Richmond Recreation and Parks Commission has also reaffirmed its stand for preserving the island and its Victorian era buildings as an historic site; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that the positions taken by the City of Richmond Planning Commission and other groups interested in retaining the East Brothers Island Light Station as an Historical Landmark are hereby ENDORSED. BE IT FURTHER RE30LVED that copies of this resolution be sent to the Commandant of the United States Coast Guard in Washington, D. C. , to Senators George Murphy and Alan Cranston, and Representative Jerome R. Waldie, enlisting their interest and assistance in this worthwhile cause. PASSED AND ADOPTED on the 19th day of May, 1970, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny, A. M. Dias, J. E. Moriarty, E. A. Linschei.d. NOES .- None. ABSENT: Supervisor T.
