Waldie , RESOLUTION NUMBER 70/299 Doctor of Laws WHEREAS Congressman Jerome R. Wal'die will receive a Doctor of Laws degree at the graduation .exercises of Saint Mary's College on May 23, 1970; and WHEREAS Congressman Waldie has an outstanding educational background being a graduate of Santa Rosa Junior College , at which institution he was Student Body President; a graduate of the university of California at Berkeley, from which University he graduated cum laude . in 1950; and a graduate of Boalt Hall where he received his law degree in 1`95>3; and WHEREAS ,prior to his election as Congressman , Mr. Waldie served in the Assembly of the California State Legislature for a period of seven and one-half years and held the important post of Majority Leader; and WHEREAS Congressman Waldie has served in his present elected capacity since 1956; and WHEREASthenotable past record of Congressman Waldie in- cludes service, in the Army of the united States for a period of nearly three years and active participation in many community organizations and service clubs ; and WHEREAS Congressman Waldie as an elected leader , has served the people of Contra Costa County and of the State of California faithfully and well for more than a decade; and WHEREAS many significant accomplishments have marked the legislative roles of Mr. Waldie , including effective action to protect the natural water supply of Contra Costa County; NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF -THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that it extends to Congress- man Jerome R . Waldie sincere compliments on his merited designation as a .€3octor of Laws, commends him for continuing effective service to all the people of his county and his state , and expresses to him and his family wholehearted best wishes for the future.
