HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 08042003 - 70-286 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Amending Assembly Bill Number 1562. RESOLUTION NUMBER 70/286 WHEREAS Assembly Bill Number 1562 is now receiving the consideration of the California State Legislature; and WHEREAS said bill mares provisions for state financial assistance to su port mutual aid operations (relating to colleges and universities ; and WHEREAS the passage of said bill is deemed desirable except that, as recommended by the County Sheriff, amendment providing for control over mutual aid is considered necessary; and WHEREAS the amendment desired is that mutual aid be requested only when an erergen^y situation develops and is beyond the control of the police agency having ,jurisdiction, that the resources of the agency having ,jurisdiction are committed to the maximum extent practicable, that mutual aid forces may be with- drawn after the emergency ceases to exist, and that mutual aid forces are not retained to ensure continued tranquillity; and WHEREAS this Board of Supervisors is in agreement with the recommendation of the County Sheriff; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA RESOLVED that Assembly Bill Number 1562 is endorsed sub"ect to its amendment as hereinabove set forth. BE IT BY THE BOARD FURTHER RESOLVED that its representa- tives in the California State Legislature are urged to support the passage of Assembly Bill Number 1562 subject to amendment as recommended by the Contra Costa County Sheriff and this Board. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 12th day of May, 1970, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors J. P. Denny, J. E. Moriarty, T. J. Coll, E. A. Linscheid. NOES: Nene . ABSENT: Supervisor A. M.
